Finally after 7 weeks, I’ve progressed to the 2nd Handstand exercise of the Gymnastics Bodies Handstand 1 program 💪🏻😁
Holding the Tripod (left) for 5x60s was actually pretty tough! I was stuck at that step for a couple of weeks but I’m glad I didn’t rush things! I think the patience helped me build up more strength in the core for the next progression: The Headstand (right)!
Although the first step of the Headstand is only 3x12s, it isn’t easy too! It’s unlike a Yoga headstand where the weight is on the top of one’s head. This one required me to push much harder from my hands.
These days my main goal of exercise is for health and longevity of physical fitness so impatience won’t do me any good if it gets me injured. I’m also prioritising recovery and maintaining my reserves as much as possible. Stimulating the body by exercise just enough to get an effect, then backing off to let the body super-compensate.
It has taken me a long long time to change my old mentality of always pushing to the limit and going as hard as I can go. But I’m confident that things will keep getting better if I have faith and patience and take things one step at a time!
Any progress on your training goals? I’d love to hear from you!
