10pm-2am: Your Body’s “Repair Window”

“Every hour of sleep before midnight is worth two after midnight.”
~old adage

10pm-2am: This is the “magic window” where your sleep is at its deepest and most regenerative.

After 2am, your sleep is more superficial.

Modern science confirms traditional wisdom [1] – during this period, our liver is most active and efficient at detoxifying toxins and your body’s regenerative metabolic activity is at its peak.

This comes about from Melatonin production which rises after the sun sets.

Melatonin is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals. It also promotes all other repair activities.

Melatonin production is disrupted when we are exposed to artificial light after the sun sets such as those from screens and modern lighting.

For longevity and health, it is recommended to:
😴 Sleep early,
😴 sleep deeply
😴 Sleep enough
and avoid unnecessary artificial light exposure after sunset. (ideally, get off all devices at least 1 hr before bed ~9pm)

Don’t join the epidemic of sleep-deprived zombies who are ageing faster than they should! 😜

Rest well.
